Mid-week cricket is a key part of Cherry Burton Cricket Club. The games are very much in the ‘Spirit of Cricket’ and the club has become known for the good humoured atmosphere of its mid-week fixtures
The evening side is known as ‘Cherry Burton Cavaliers’. It not only provides much needed cricket but has for the last twenty years provided a natural progression and route for young cricketers moving from junior cricket into the senior game.
The matches are a mixture of friendlies and cup games. Cup games are very much traditional competitive matches but friendly matches are designed to allow all to be part of the action. Bowling restrictions, for example, mean more bowlers throughout the game giving the younger and less experienced players a chance to gain experience and valuable practice ‘in the middle’.
Most matches take place on a Thursday evenings are take the form of twenty overs a side. Food is provided after the match in The Bay Horse in the village.
